Part 15: The Anatomy of a Fall

“The Best & Worst of Times” (2) “The Anatomy of a Fall”  Part 3

2 Sam 11:1-17, 27 – NIV

The Five elements of David’s Fall:

  1. He had just experienced a great victory

*Prov. 16:18 – NIV

Two reasons why great falls often come after great victories:

Pride or arrogance   B. We let down our defenses

     2.  He was in a position of idleness

*Gen. 4:7 – NIV

*The Word of God reminds us to beware of idle hands, idle time, and idle minds.

      3. He did not turn quickly from temptation

James 1:14 – NIV

I Tim. 4:7 – NIV

     4.  He had an attitude of entitlement

*Thank Jesus Christ He does not give us what we deserve!

*Luke 17:10 – NIV

    5.  He attempted to conceal his sin

Prov. 28:13 – NIV

The reason concealment of our sins is so detrimental is because:

A. It callouses our heart

B. It leads to additional sins

C. It emboldens us to sin again

*Jude 1:24-25 – NIV

*We can overcome!
